Talking, talking, talking...

The final teaching event I had for the whole trip was a conference for high school teachers of English. Erasmo (pictured) and I were the keynote speakers. Erasmo was fantastic (me? I got by on my good looks...you can only imagine how that went.) Anyway, this was the first annual conference, and hopefully it will continue. Thank you very much to Jacky Nunez (Partners of the Americas) and Prof. Margarita Valle (Universidad Mayor) for coordinating everything!

Teacher Friends

Giuliana and Laura are two teachers I met while I was in Santiago. Both are English language teachers at a Montessori school and both are committed to their profession. Both women had interesting stories: Giuliana is from Costa Rica and moved with her husband to Santiago so that he could attend graduate school; Laura, a Brit, met her Chilean husband in Canada, and now lives in Chile. Meeting them was one of my highlights in Santiago!

Partners of the Americas Farewell Dinner

I enjoyed a lovely farewell dinner in the home of Elena Torres, the current president of the Partners of the Americas - Chile. Elena has a beautiful home and entertained myself, the conference participants (Erasmo & Stephen), and hosts (Barbara & Antonio Morales Trosko), and coordinator (Jacky). This really was a wonderful way to wrap things up in Santiago. Thank you very much, Elena!

Ynez & Orianna

Here is the last shot of my Chile trip. I'm standing with Ynez, the long time made of the Morales-Trosko family, and Orianna, longtime friend of the Morales-Troskos. The sun was hideously bright...I think there's something to that hole-in-the-ozone.

Elliot posing

I took a picture with Elliot and he was cracking me up. Everyone I'd go to snap the picture, he'd close his eyes!
