Taking a Chance...

So Susan's brother came to town on business, but also picked up a puppy. Here's Chance at 8 weeks. Can you guess his breed?

Summer Concert at the Chateau Ste. Michelle

Susan is a wine club member at the Chateau Ste. Michelle and each year they have a special member's concert. I got lucky this year when Susan got a ticket for me...turns out they needed a designated driver. :)

While the concert didn't start until 7pm, we got there at 3pm. The wine tasting went from 4:00 - 6:30 and I didn't realize that it was a FREE wine tasting. This was the best people watching in town! The attendees had obviously done this before...they came prepared not only with what looked like gourmet food, but they came with conveniences including chairs, tables, and coolers. A good time was definitely had by all.

The above is a shot of the stage area early in the afternoon.

Picnicking

I was absolutely fascinated by what people brought to the concert. The couple in front of us had cheese, crackers, pate, fruit, salads, and I'm sure a lot more that I couldn't see. A couple rows in front of us, a group brought a low table complete with flower in a vase. The two men in front of us brought their own plates and silverware and a wine rack to hold their glasses. Who knew these things even existed???

OMG...I've become my mother.

It was so hot that I had to carry an umbrella to block out the sun. Normally it wouldn't matter to me, but I had a horrible cold sore which I brought back from Hawaii. On top of the SPF 50 sunscreen on my lips, I also block the sun with the umbrella. I will say that the umbrella came in handy several hours later when it rained for over 30 minutes.

The brood

Here are Marc, Jennie and Susan.

Jennie and I pretty much stayed planted in our chairs. Not a bad way to spend the afternoon, really.

It really was a good afternoon
