My neighbor's car

I went for another walk around the complex yesterday and spotted my neighbor's car at the bottom of the hill. Can you guess what kind of car it is?

Don't eat the yellow snow

I know it's so junior high of me, but I had to take a picture of yellow snow. I'm sure some little doggy didn't want to go too far to pee, so it was in the parking lot, close to the drive.

My day at the park

A couple of days ago I decided to go for a walk to the local park. The park was covered with snow as you can see from this shot. It was a quiet, peaceful walk - but I got real cold, real fast. I spent about an hour outside and then headed back home. I stopped at an espresso stand to get some coffee (see pic below). We still have snow and are expecting more tonight. It'll be a white Christmas.

The right idea...

On the trail I ran into 6 different people cross country skiing. Cool.I also saw one runner in shorts. Cold.

Snow Boots...not

I was inadequately prepared for my snow walk on the river trail. All I could find were these rain boots. So I put on two pairs of socks and out I went. The boots weren't all that comfortable to walk in and my toes were freezing by the time I got home an hour later.

Berry Shots

On the walk I noticed these berry plants - Eric would die right about now. I'm sure he knows the name/species of the plant. Anyway, I decided to play around with the camera while taking these shots.

Black Berries

Same berries, but I used a different function on my camera for this one - of course I can't remember what the function was. Typical. How I ever graduated from college is beyond me.

Color Swap

So one of the settings on my camera is called Color Swap - I think it's a nice contrast to the pic before it.

Tree Pictures

I had fun playing with my camera while I was out on my walk. Here are some shots of a tree on the river trail.

Even the whale looks cold.

My Coffee Stop

On the way back home from my walk, I stopped by an espresso stand. Here's their sign by the road - deep in snow.

One crib...now I want a 'hood

I forgot that a couple of weeks ago I bought a gingerbread house kit. I took it over to Eric and forced him to stop grading and help me construct this house. It did get a little messy as I also had to make the frosting. You'd think that they'd just have you mix the powdered sugar with water, right? Nooooo. You need to beat egg whites and fold the sugar into the whites. Go figure. Anyway, once that was done, I/we got to constructing the house. It didn't turn out so bad although we won't win any prizes for architecture or design.

A winter wonderland

Well, winter has finally slammed the door opened and arrived. It has been cold, but since Tuesday, the area has had snow. My neighborhood got the bulk of snow on Wednesday. My brother and SIL got their snow yesterday. I got about 6 inches, but unfortunately, there's more snow predicted for Saturday/Sunday. Good thing I went to Costco before the storm.

The road outside

Here's a shot of the road right outside my place. Notice the Road Closed sign? Yeah...some people just ignored that sign - they saw it more as a suggestion. The road was closed because it's a steep hairpin turn going up.

Pretty, huh?

Kicking off the holiday season

I stopped by to see Maggie the day before Thanksgiving. She proudly modeled her Thanksgiving headband which she made in school. Very cute.
