A Room With(out) a View

So until recently, I used to have this great view from my office. But all good things must come to an end, and so did my landscape. Workers are busily constructing the new Health Science Bldg. in front of my window. Not dead on in the middle of my view, but pretty close. So this is what I get to look at everyday...concrete and big machinery.

Kim D.

I saw my good friend Kim at the retirement party. Her mother, Nan, was the retiree. Kim and I go way back to 1990 when I was a student at her mother's school. We've kept in touch since then.

Party, Party, Party

I haven't updated in a long time, and that doesn't mean that I've been off doing exciting things. Au contraire...it turns out my life is still the same...I just don't get around to doing all the things I want. Anyhoo...I do have 3 parties this weekend...boy, when it rains, it pours. Last night I attended a retirement party for a mentor and friend. On Sunday, I go to 2 more parties. One is for Sueko, a woman I met through Mari M. (one of the JA Posse). Sueko will be leaving for Tokyo on the 29th. Then in the evening I'm headed off to Big Al's for a 40th birthday party for Joy. Yay!!! I finally have plans!!

An Evening with Sophia

So last Saturday night I had a date. Well, I guess you'd call it a babysitting date. My friends, Steve & Heidi, went out for the evening so I went over to watch Sophia, my goddaughter. She is absolutely beautiful. She's also a healthy girl and will give my nephew, Conner, a run for his money.

Out with the Old, In with the New

While 2006 didn't quite go out with a bang, it was still worth celebrating. I celebrated the end of the year with the JA Posse...yes, another evening of dining with good friends. We had a nabe party (think Japanese fondue) which went well into the night. Dale, again, hosted the event, and everyone else brought their appetite. The picture above is of the dinner preparation.

One New Year's Eve, my roommate and I spent the evening with John & Cindy. Very low key. We had appetizers, and then talked for most of the night. Susan and Cindy watched two movies (Dark Water, Lady in the Water). We rang in the new year wearing party hats, and blowing horns. While this lacked the hoopla of a big party, it was a good new year start (I'm so old).

Happy 2007!!
