Nabe Party w/ the JA Posse

Monday, January 21st was the '08 Nabe party w/ the JA posse. As usual, it was a lot of food...but we did not disappoint. Everything was exception. Dale hosted (again) and Lynn did all the shopping and food prep (thanks, Lynn). Mari made sure we had kim chee (yum) and we ate and ate and ate. Check out the pics.

Nabe I

So we had two nabe pots going. Nabe is really a healthy fondue - the base is a chicken broth and then one can add veggies and meat. This first pot is a traditional clay pot. The next one is an electric nabe.

Remember when Lynn was taking pics at the concert?

So a while ago, a group of us went to Jake Shimabukuro's concert. We had front row seats and things were great...until Lynn tried to take pictures and couldn't get her camera to stop flashing. This is Dale remembering the incident.

Starting the Year Off Right

The year began in a very healthy way...sort of...if you don't count all I consumed in the wee hours from the New Year's Eve party. A couple of days ago, Kari & Kristi (friends from work) called to see if I'd be interested in doing a long walk on New Year's Day. I, of course, agreed, because New Year's day was still several days away. Well, I had to own up to my decision this morning when I got up. I drove over to Kristi's and we met Kari at a park. We then did a walk which took us about 2.5 hours...we stopped several times for short breaks (and for me to go buy stuff at the AMPM...geez...I can't go anywhere w/o shopping).

Another Walker

When we got to the park, there was a rooster which was clearly attached to Kari. I'm sure if we let it, it would've come w/ us on the walk.

The End of the Trail...

Here's a shot at the end of the 6 mile walk. It was a looong walk.

New Year's Eve

New Year's Eve was spent at John & Cindy's. Party-goers were Susan, her niece Steffie, Susan's mom Jennie, Eric, Suz...and of course John, Cindy & Maggie. The food was excellent: king crab legs & ribeye steaks. Yes, the arteries clogged. Lots of good food, and good company. Too bad every day can't be New Year's Eve.

A One Day Pass...

New Year's Eve was an opportunity to eat, drink and be merry. Here's a shot of Suz and what will turn out to be the last dessert/carb for a long time.
