The Wise Tour '09

This has been such a wonderful weekend. Susan's sister and niece flew in for a visit. They arrived on Friday night and on Saturday we headed over to Salty's on Alki for the brunch buffet. All that hard work at the gym last week went 'puff' at the brunch. But it was worth it. We got to hang out, talk story, eat an obscene amount of crab - and did it over and over again. So here are the pics.

The Nice & Clean Pose

This shot is before we got dirty from eating all that crab, fiddling with lemons, and just generally making a mess.

Dessert

This is Brit's dessert plate. Everything was good, but the top prize went to the lemon chiffon cake (not pictured). Very light, refreshing and just a tad tart.

Crab Carnage

We ate so much crab...this is the second of the shell bowls we had. We dined on Dungeness crab, shrimp, and raw oyster for seafood. Oh, and don't forget the clarified butter.

Visiting Conner

I stopped by brother's today to give Conner his Easter Basket (I know...always late). I was shocked to see how long his hair was, and how chatty he had become. He's just a non-stop talker...absolutely adorable. I gave him his basket, and then we read two books together, and then he got hyper (might have been the jelly beans from his basket...).

Dinner at Cafe Juanita

Posted by Picasa

So Martin & Bev came into town on Friday, 3/27 for a weekend of fun (well, and pain, too, as Bev and I completed the Whidbey Island Half). Of course seeing them also means having good food. We dined at the Cafe Juanita which was amazing. The foie gras was to d.i.e. for. Friday was the kick off for what would turn out to be a whole weekend of fun, food, and friends. Take a look at the shots below.

Whidbey Island Half Marathon

Well, this is the reason why we all got together. Only one of us trained for the half - Andi, of course. I worked out, but unfortuately didn't do any long miles. So while it was a looooong 13.1 miles, we all finished.

Kim, Bev, & I

We found Kim at the expo, just like we did last year. She made a family weekend of it all - her husband and two kids were her cheering squad. It was good seeing her again.

Satan's Child is a Runner

OK...I was cracking up at this. Susan couldn't participate cuz she was sick but she had signed up. When she pulled out her bib number, she was assigned...get this...666. What are the chances (that someone gets it right)???

And race day is here...

See how happy we are??? Yeah, those smiles got erased around mile 9 where we had to go up a really long hill only to be greeted by a cow and chicken farm at the top. Try breathing in deep then.

Andi & her team

Andi's trainers joined her for this race. They drove down from Vancouver, BC that morning to pace her for the race. She did so well.

At the finish line...

Notice how I'm still wearing gloves? It was a bit cold for me.
