12th Ave Grill

We went out to dinner at the 12th Ave Grill in Kaimuki. Here we are before the food got to the table (thank goodness - who knows what type of mess I would have made after).

Kathy & Rob

I couldn't believe the Seattle people I saw in Hawaii. There was Anu (who attends the university I teach at), Dale Watanabe (from Seattle U), Brad & Kory Embry (I work with Brad), and of course, Kathy and Rob. I first met Kathy when we were both students at college. Her family welcomed me at every holiday and then some. We've stayed in touch off and on through the years. Last year I attended Kathy's wedding before she made the move to TX. So imagine how thrilled I was when I found out she was going to be in Hawaii at the same time. Here we are at Giovanni's Shrimp Truck.

Portuguese-Man-of-War

While Waimanalo Beach Park is a beautiful and pristine beach...there was one problem - portuguese-man-of-war. Really pretty to look at, but they sting. Carolyn got stung on her foot...I offered to pee on it, but she declined.
